RULES
ESSENTIAL RULES
RACE NUMBER
Every participant must display their official run number clearly on the front of their body or hat, ensuring it remains visible at all times. Unofficial runners are not permitted on the course.
RACE ROUTE
Participants must stay on the marked trail at all times. Cutting switchbacks or taking any off-trail shortcuts is prohibited.
ASSISTANCE
Participants are not permitted to receive aid or assistance from their crew or spectators between designated crew-accessible aid stations. Pacers are prohibited from carrying gear or supplies for runners (no muling), and runners may not stash supplies along the trail.
AID STATION
Every runner must check in at all aid stations and depart before the specified cut-off time. Runners who return to an aid station after the cut-off time will be removed from the race. All cut-off times will be strictly enforced without exception.
DROPBAG
On the 50 Mile Event only, runners will be given a baggage tag for a drop bag that will go to CP4 at Fanling. This bag will then be moved to the finish line.
The bag must be collected by the end of the race from the finish line. Any left over bags will be disposed of.
LITTERING
Littering of any kind is prohibited and threatens our continued use of the Western States Trail. Please respect the natural beauty of our trails and the right of everyone to enjoy them.
CUTOFFS
Cutoff times are non-negotiable.
FINISH LINE BAG
All runners will receive a baggage label for a bag that will be taken from the start lines to the finish line of the relevant race.
The bag must be collected by the end of the race from the finish line. Any left over bags will be disposed of.
MEDICAL TEAM
Medical staff can check any runner’s condition at any point during the event and have the final say on whether the runner can keep going. If a runner refuses to cooperate, they may be disqualified on the spot.
FINISHER
Participants must complete the event within the time limit to be recognized as official finishers of the race.
DNF
Any runner who DNF’s a any checkpoint on the course must leave via their own means from the course.
No transport is provided to those that DNF. from any checkpoint.
CREW

50/50 DNF RULES
DNFING 50 MILES EVENT

DNFING BEFORE 50 KILOMETRE EVENT
Runners are accountable for the behavior of their crews and pacers. All individuals, including crews and pacers, must adhere to the Run Rules, which encompass parking, aid, and access guidelines. Failure to comply may result in the disqualification of the runner.
50 MILE EVENT PACER RULES
EVENT
Runners are allowed a pacer on the 50 Mile event only and they must have an official pacer bib
LOCATION
Runners are allowed to have one pacer at a time accompany them, starting from the aid station at Fanling to the finish line in Tai Po Tau Playground.
CHANGE OF PACER
A change of pacer may be made at the following designated locations:
- Luk Keng
- Bride’s Pool
CHECKPOINTS
Pacers may assist their runner with the filling of water bottles or replenishment of supplies at aid stations but may not come into the aid station ahead of their runner, or depart after their runner, in order to speed up the re-fueling process.
DISQUALIFICATIon
All crew and pacers must adhere to race rules and regulations or their runner will be disqualified.
AGE
Pacers must be at least 18 years of age. Exceptions may be requested in advance of the 50 mile event by contacting the Race Director.
MULING
Pacers may not carry water, food, flashlights, shoes, clothing, or other supplies for their runner or provide any other type of mechanical or physical assistance to their runner on the course. Muling is expressly forbidden. Pacers may carry their own supplies and food.
CHECKPOINTS #2
Pacers must enter and leave each aid station with their runner and must clearly identify themselves to aid station personnel. Pacers may accept aid at aid stations.
DNF OF RUNNER
If a runner withdraws from the Run and their pacer wishes to continue, the pacer must remain at the aid station until another runner requests the services of a pacer. The pacer may not continue on the trail without an official Run entrant.
FINAL 1 KILOMETRE
Runners are allowed to have more than one person (crew, pacer, friends, family) run with/accompany them at the following designated places (no aid or muling allowed):

BIB
Each pacer must pick up their pacer number and sign a release form at race pack pick up. Three pacer numbers (with numbers that correspond with the entrant) will be provided per entrant.
50 KILOMETRE AND 25 KILOMETRE EVENT PACER RULES

INSURANCE
The organiser, RaceBase Asia Ltd., has public liability insurance cover. This does not include personal accident insurance for competitors. We recommend that you arrange your own personal accident insurance, ambulance cover and income protection insurance before participating in the Event to cover any unforeseen personal costs you may incur due to ambulance trips, medical expenses or time off work due to injuries sustained whilst participating in the Event.
