TRAINING RUNS

The 9 Dragons offers training runs to acquaint runners with the courses. It is recommended that each entrant, especially newcomers to The 9 Dragons, take advantage of these runs as they will acquaint you with both the trail itself and the conditions you can expect to encounter on Race Day.

We hope to see many of the runners who have participated on the race who will share their considerable experience on the trail.

Why Join?

Navigation/Route Finding

Build up confidence with the route. Seeing the course once won’t magically etch every detail into your memory, so focus on key landmarks instead. Picture yourself navigating tricky sections, like turning left after a hill or right specific sign post, to create mental anchors. This strategy simplifies the route and keeps you on track when the pressure’s on.

MENTAL PREPARATION

Visualize the entire course to build confidence and make the distance feel manageable. Believing in your ability to complete each section is key to success on race day.

Race Plan

Use the training runs to identify where to walk, push hard, or use poles. Knowing the terrain helps you strategize hydration and effort levels effectively.
